September brings some of the last days of summer, but there's still plenty of good weather still to come, and firepits can allow you to enjoy your garden for longer as the nights start to draw in.
Whether that's a late summer barbecue with friends and family, long evenings outside with a cup of cocoa or a glass of wine, firepits are the solution to several problems as the seasons change.
Get a firepit with a grill and you can even cook your favourite barbecue foods on it. Or choose a chimenea to retain even more heat and also serve as a taller focal point for guests to sit around.
How a firepit helps
As the days grow shorter and we move towards the autumn months, firepits become an even more important element in your outdoor living.
Natural flickering flames offer a unique aesthetic, generating light and heat both at once, so your firepit will help take care of the cooler, darker nights from September through to October and beyond.
There are plenty to choose from, with freestanding bowl fire pits that can easily be moved to a different spot in the garden when they are cool, or the contemporary magnesia-bodied MGO Cubo square fire pit.
You can even get striking patio furniture with built-in fire pits, such as the stunning Bramblecrest Chatsworth Modular Sofa Set with Firepit.
What to burn in a firepit
Firepits are a versatile way to get rid of cuttings from around the garden, especially larger twigs and small branches that can't go in your garden waste recycling, or tree limbs and trunks cut into smaller pieces.
Keep some La Hacienda Easylogs on-hand and you should have no problems getting it lit. Just light both ends of the Easylog and allow it to burn for up to two hours.
Depending on your choice of firepit, you may be able to use standard BBQ charcoal and cook over the hot coals once they reach the correct temperature.
Or you can visit Weber BBQ World at Bents Garden & Home, where you'll find a great selection of wood chips in 'flavours' like beech and hickory - perfect to add a distinctive taste to foods grilled over your firepit.
