CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY

Here at Bents we’re always making plans and looking at ways we can improve and - despite the challenging times that have faced us recently - one of our biggest commitments remains our local community, helping to build on its strong and vibrant foundations.

The third generation of the Bent family is now very much part of our team with Matthew, Rachel, Helen and Katherine, as well as our wider family of colleagues, all keen to work even closer with village residents, the local Parish Council and other organisations to strengthen our involvement in the community.

We are always looking at ways in which we can support and enhance the village of Glazebury and surrounding areas and we welcome requests and suggestions and where possible we will offer our help and support.

A little look at how we’ve been able to help

Glazebury Church holds a very special place in our hearts, with both Alfred and Margaret Bent buried there, so when we were approached by Mary Latchford from Glazebury Church Yard Team with a request for help we were delighted and very welling to get involved, providing pots and plants for the church yard, helping to create a lovely area where people can come to visit loved ones and take time to reflect.

Elsewhere in the village we’ve also been delighted to help Glazebury Methodist Church with their Sensory Garden, again providing plants and advice for this fantastic project. And down the road in Culcheth, we’ve been honoured to support Culcheth Horticultural Society, sponsoring categories and providing trophies for their 65th anniversary event.

Further afield we have supported St Anne’s Primary School in Standish, supplying compost and plants for their school garden; helped Warrington’s Life Skills Academy to complete their garden project; and worked with Ashton Community Group to complete their WW1 Memorial Garden.

These are just a few of the local initiatives we have been proud to help over the years.  We hope that we can help even more in the future and look forward to helping brighten up even more community areas.

A place to play

In addition to our support for local schools and community groups we are also proud of the work we have done with Glazebury Village Association and the village community play area we have created. The association had been on the look-out for a place to play for over 30 years, but having looked into, and considered various options, struggled to find a solution.  We were delighted to be able to provide a piece of land opposite the Centre just next to our allotments and have helped to develop a fantastic facility for all members of the community to use.

Other ways we help

It’s not all plants and flowers and natural beauty!  We are keen to get involved with all sorts of projects. We have sponsored the Ladies Open at Leigh Golf Club for over 15 years, have been involved with Warrington Wolves and Leigh Centurians.  We have worked with the Leigh Community Trust and always ensure that the money we raise throughout Charity of the Year is used – whenever possible – to benefit our local communities.

We know that our family business wouldn’t be where it is today without the continued support of our neighbours and local community and we always work hard to make it a place to be proud of and enjoy.  We welcome requests and ideas for ways in which we can return this support and show our thanks.  Simply contact our team on 01942 266300 if you would like to get in touch.  We always love to hear from you.
